Shaping the Horizon: Danielis Yachting Reflects on the Biograd Boat Show 2026'
The end of October is always a pivotal moment for brokers, fleet owners, and charters alike. As the final guests depart and boats are prepared for the winter
season, the entire Croatian charter industry gathers in Biograd na Moru along the Adriatic coast. This year was no exception, with the Danielis Yachting team
participating in the 28th Biograd Boat Show (October 21–22) and the 8th Croatia Charter Expo (October 21–22). We returned with ample notes, numerous follow-ups, and a clearer vision for the 2027 season.
Here is our recap, written for our guests, our partners, and anyone curious about how the charter business actually gets done behind the scenes.
Five Events, One Marina
The Biograd Boat Show, organized by Ilirija d.d. at Marina Kornati, is the largest boating event in Croatia and the biggest in-water show in Central Europe. This year's show set new records, with over 400 exhibitors, more than 500 boats, and 40-plus premieres from around the world and Croatia.
Biograd stands out in our industry because it combines five events into one:
- The 28th Biograd Boat Show, a public exhibition in the marina and halls.
- The 11th Biograd B2B, a business networking platform for exhibitors and trade visitors.
- The 10th HGK Croatian Nautical Days (October 21–24), a congress program by the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
- The 8th Croatia Charter Expo (October 21–22), a B2B event focused solely on yacht charters and brokers
- The 3rd Croatia Luxury and Adventure Travel Show (October 23–25), hosted with the Zadar County Tourist Board.
For a charter agency like ours, the initial two days are crucial, as Hall D in the northern part of Marina Kornati becomes the hub for the Croatian charter industry.
Croatia Charter Expo: Two Days and Over 1,200 Meetings
The Croatia Charter Expo (CCE) is a focused B2B event for registered charter professionals, including fleet operators, charter brokers, agents, and service
providers. Meetings are pre-arranged using the new Biograd B2B mobile app, which features a business directory, meeting scheduler, and event reminders. By the time you arrive in Biograd, your schedule is already packed. Organizers reported over 1,200 pre-scheduled business meetings, more than 100 participating companies, and over 500 industry professionals from roughly 40 countries. The event is supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board, which co-
finances Croatian exhibitors and offers accommodation vouchers for select international agents, ensuring the presence of key buyers.
Attendees in Hall D
The 2026 participant list included notable fleet operators such as Nautika Centar Nava, Croatia Yachting, Angelina Yachtcharter, Kramer Yachting, Ultra Sailing, Master Yachting, NCP & Mare, Euronautic, Dream Yacht & Navigare Yachting, Athenian Yachts from Greece, Asta Yachting, Astarea Yachting, Waypoint, Orvas Yachting, Euromarine Charter, Marina Hramina Charter, Adventure Charter, Bruneko, Jadranka Yachting, Navigo, Sailing Europe, and others.
International representatives and brokers, including 1A Yachtcharter, Barbera Yachting from Germany, and Experience Croatia & More from Australia, among others, were also in attendance.
The supplier section was equally engaging, featuring booking systems like MMK Booking Manager and NauSYS, and insurers such as Pantaenius and GrECo Marine Insurance.
The Future of Croatian Chartering After Biograd 2026
Danielis Yachting's meetings with fleet operators were very informative, especially about the new boats joining partner fleets for 2027, price lists and commission discussions, early-booking terms, base changes, and discussions about the season's challenges we all met this season.
A notable highlight was the first Booking Manager Masterclass on October 22 at the Captain's Club in Marina Kornati, led by Maja, with morning sessions for charter operators and afternoon sessions for brokers. Maja brought the System’s latest improvements through practical examples, shared some useful tips, and showed us how to apply them to our own workflow.
On the opening day, two new events were added to the program in Hall B. In the morning, Otvoreno more magazine hosted a panel titled "Safe Sailing in a Clean Adriatic". In the afternoon, the Croatian Employers' Association and Nautical Sector Association (HUP-UNS) held the first "Quo Vadis Nautica" gathering and introduced the first Blue Book of the Croatian Nautical Industry, a comprehensive analysis of the sector's economic impact, covering chartering, marinas, shipbuilding, equipment, refitting, and services. One initiative proposes a National Council for the Nautical Industry as a permanent platform for cooperation between companies, state institutions, and the scientific community.
The show also featured the 4th ECO Excellence Awards, recognizing tangible contributions to environmental protection in the sector. Marservis d.o.o. earned accolades for its ECOcube, securing both the "Innovation of the Year" and "Best Domestic Product or Service" awards for its floating waste collection station.
Meanwhile, the "Best Volunteer Eco-Initiative" award was presented to the traditional customs association Krapansko idro in recognition of their underwater cleanup effort, "Operation Sponge"(Operacija Spužva).
The Strategic Goal: Fewer Unbooked Weeks
The recurring theme in every Hall D conversation was occupancy.
BBS's management clearly stated the purpose of the Croatia Charter Expo before the event: to unite fleet operators and brokers for improved capacity utilization, develop efficient working methods, and enhance collaboration between both sides of the business. The industry backdrop is well-known. The post-pandemic surge led to a significant increase in Croatian fleet size, but demand has since slowed.
The numbers highlight the issue. According to eCrew data from the Croatian Chamber of Economy's nautical tourism association, Croatia welcomed approximately 194,500 charter guests and just over 1.1 million charter overnights by the end of June 2026, about 3% fewer guests and 1% fewer overnights than in the same period in 2025, with charters down around 3%. Industry analysis this year estimates Croatia's charter fleet at approximately 3,760 vessels, significantly more than Greece's roughly 2,540. However, Croatia's average annual sailing yacht occupancy (about 32.5%) lags behind Greece (about 43.6%), as does the average weekly price.
In other words, Croatia still has the largest charter fleet in the world, with over 3,000 yachts represented at CCE alone. The task for 2027 is to market it better, not just expand it. This is where a face-to-face event held right after the season, with fresh experiences and next year's Boat Show 2027 planning already underway, proves invaluable.
New Boats on Display
Between meetings, we enjoyed walking the pontoons, like everyone else in Biograd. The organizers highlighted over 40 premieres this year, several of which are directly relevant to charter guests fond of motor yachts and catamarans:
- Absolute Navetta 58 – an evolution of the Italian yard's Navetta line, featuring expansive glazed surfaces and interiors open to the sea.
- Galeon 560 Fly – a 17.82 m flybridge yacht with Galeon's "Beach Mode" fold-out platforms around the stern.
- Prestige F4.3 – a 13 m F-Line flybridge with an OceanView galley, two side entrances to the saloon, and twin 440 hp Volvo D6 shaft drives for around 30 knots.
- Beneteau Swift Trawler 37 – the latest in the popular long-range trawler line, 11.29 m with a surprisingly roomy interior.
- Greenline 42 – a Slovenian yard's next-generation hybrid cruiser with integrated solar power.
- 60 Sunreef Power – a luxury power catamaran accommodating up to eight guests in a master suite and three en-suite doubles.
- Saxdor 460 GTC – the Finnish brand's new flagship with up to 1,275 hp and a top speed of up to 50 knots.
- Marcopolo MP12 and Bellini Astor 36 – two sporty newcomers for fast day trips and short cruises.
For guests considering a sailing holiday in Croatia in 2027, our insights are straightforward:
- The fleet is extensive and modern. With over 3,000 charter yachts represented in Biograd and new models arriving annually, there's a wide selection, from bareboat sailing yachts to crewed catamarans and motor yachts.
- Securing your reservation early offers significant advantages. Because fleet operators prioritize filling their calendars, the premium boats and most
competitive early-bird rates are secured during these autumn weeks. - Historical occupancy data highlights clear gaps in booking calendars, making May, June, and September ideal for enjoying warm weather, peaceful
anchorages, and excellent value. - There is still no substitute for face-to-face connections. Our productive meetings in Hall D have deepened our firsthand knowledge, ensuring we
resolve potential challenges swiftly and confidently guide you to the perfect boat and base for your next journey.
Reflecting on the remarkable Biograd Boat Show 2026, we are filled with gratitude for the exceptional hospitality extended by the organizers. Their meticulous attention to detail ensured a seamless experience for all attendees. The collaboration with partners was evident in the well-coordinated events that highlighted the vibrancy and innovation within the marine industry. As we look ahead to future events, we thank you once again for making this year an unforgettable event, and we definitely look forward to seeing you in Biograd next October.
