A settlement with a port on a bay of the same name. It lies on the former island of Kopara, which was connected with the mainland by an artificially-built causeway in the second part of the 19th century. The main economic activities are agriculture, fishing and tourism. There are several beautiful beaches in the bay and the surroundings. A man-made islet was built behind the marina between 1993 and 1995.

The settlement was established in 1518. The parish church from 1615 was restored in 1740 and reconstructed in the 19th century. On the highest point of the former island stand the ruins of a fortification which the French began to build in 1809. The medieval Church of sv. Nikola (St. Nicholas) has been preserved on the site where the settlement of Stara Rogoznica once stood. On Cape Ploca to the south stands a small church from 1324.

The large bay resembles a lake with an islet in the middle. Berths are available in a 4-m-deep harbour on the islet, which is exposed to westerly winds, or in a marina on the western coast. In the northern part of the bay lies a former military pier with a depth of around 3 m, which is usually occupied by fishing boats.
