Mali Ston

A stretch of sea between the continental coast and the Peljesac Peninsula, which is not really a channel as the name implies, but a long and narrow bay. The bora blows very strong in this otherwise pleasant area, and occasionally the sea level suddenly drops or rises by up to 2 m, especially before the onset of a strong jugo. A great deal of care is needed to avoid a clam farm. Entrance to a side bay called Uvala Bistrina is prohibited due to the numerous clam farms, which are the largest on the eastern Adriatic coast. In the Kuta Cove at the end of the bay, there are small harbours for the locals, and a good anchorage at depths between 6 and 8 m.
