Ciovo

An island in the Central Dalmatian island group with its highest point at Rudine (217 m). The island encloses the Kastela Bay and is connected with Trogir by a bridge. There are no surface waters. The northern side has been forested with pine and cypress trees. The island produces olives, figs, almonds, grapes and citrus fruits. The western side is lined with sandy and pebbly beaches. CIOVO TOWN - Part of Trogir on the southern side of the Trogir Channel, with which it is connected by a bridge. There is a shipyard on a peninsula which ends at Cape Cubrijan. The most important of Ciovo's several churches is the pre-Romanesque Church of Our Lady by the Sea. OKRUG GORNJI - A large settlement with mostly vacation cottages on the narrowest part of the island of Ciovo, between the Saldun and Movarstica Bays. The small enclosed harbor is mostly occupied by local boats and can only be entered by boats with a draft of 1.5 m.
