A settlement on the Makarska Riviera beneath the Biokovo Ridge. It has been regarded as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Dalmatia for decades. A thick pine forest stretches along pebbly beaches, and the surrounding area is characterized by olive groves, marasca cherries, numerous springs and excellent wines. To the southeast, the settlement merges with Baska Voda. Brela was first mentioned in the 1st century as Berulia. The present settlement was built in more recent times with the arrival of the inhabitants of the villages beneath Mt. Biokovo.

In the local harbor, boats can berth at the breakwater at a depth of up to 4 m, and at two piers with depths of 2 and 3 m. Brela Soline Marina (021) 618 222 - It is also open to transient sailors. There are 150 berths and 15 spaces for dry storage. The depth of the sea is 5 m. The marina is well-protected from all winds by an 80-m-long pier with water and electricity hook-ups. Part of the northern coast is reserved for local boats.
